There is also an early arrival option (included with the camping ticket) for anyone who chooses to arrive early on Thursday 28th July 2022 at any time between 5pm and 10pm.

The music gate opening times are:

FRIDAY 29TH JULY 2022 – 2.00pm

SATURDAY 30TH JULY 2022 – 12 Noon

SUNDAY 31ST JULY 2022 – 12 Noon

Day visitor car parks will open 30 mins before the gate opening times.

The Event will finish around 11.00pm on each day.

The views across the historic Ushaw site will be dominated by a massive outdoor stage, a huge enclosed second stage, and a food and drinks village, with a large number of bars and food vendors, plus rides and activities, to cater for all needs. With big stages, video screens, more pyrotechnics than you can shake a stick at and a spectacular production planned, it’s going to be something very special.

As the North East’s very own, brand new metal and hard rock biggest festival, it’s going to look, sound and feel very special.

Dominion Festival is here to bring the North the Metal and Rock Festival it deserves, set in the ancient historic and picturesque surroundings of Ushaw Historic House and Chapel, Durham.

After several years of planning by a team of local North-East promoters and live music lovers, who have been running festivals across the region for over 10 years, Dominion is finally here, and it’s first year will be something very special.

There will be lots of bars, a wide range of food options, including vegetarian, vegan and more specialist caterers, plus a funfair and lots of extra activities coming.

There is car parking for day visitors near the music arena area and there’s a camping option for the whole weekend from 29th to 31st July 2022 offering a dedicated camp site next door to the music arena, with excellent facilities, and no worries about how to get home after the music’s finished each night!

There will be a huge outdoor main stage with a spectacular production yet, including video screens, and a big second indoor stage, giving you even more choice. With lots to see and do and a range of superb heavy metal and hard rock bands gracing both stages, this will be a weekend to remember.

It’s all here for every metalhead, young or old – say you were there for Dominion’s first year, as we’re here to stay!

The music gate opening times are:

FRIDAY 29TH JULY 2022 – 2.00pm

SATURDAY 30TH JULY 2022 – 12 Noon

SUNDAY 31ST JULY 2022 – 12 Noon

Day visitor car parks will open 30 mins before the gate opening times.

The Event will finish around 11.00pm on each day.

Dominion Festival will be using one of the best regarded Event Security companies in the UK and is placing huge emphasis on creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all.  Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and our security team will ensure the safety of all customers at all times.

While children are welcome at the event, we would remind all parents that a metal festival can be a busy, crowded and hectic place with plenty of mosh pits and fast moving crowds.  Any children attending the event should be very carefully supervised at all times and parents should make suitable choices about where may or may not be suitable for children of different ages.  For guidance in this respect, speak to our security team who will be highly visible throughout the festival.

It is very important to the organisers, that we ensure that the event is accessible to everyone, and all aspects are being reviewed to make further improvements in 2022. This includes the availability of accessible disabled parking, toilets, including disabled toilets in a secure stewarded area.

There will also be a dedicated viewing area for wheelchair users to view the main stage, though it does have a capacity and will be first come first served to wheelchair users and one companion.

Any person with additional needs who requires a free ticket for a carer or assistant, can email Dominion Festival via our Contact Page or at info@dominionfestival.co.uk where we will make provision for this directly.

The free Disabled Facilities Access Permit is for those who require accessible facilities or additional support to accommodate disabilities, only, and can be accessed by booking the free Disabled Facilities Access Permit, in addition to all normal purchased tickets (per person). Kindly note the Disabled Permit is NOT an entry ticket and is additional to the entry tickets per person.

If you have any other specific requirements, let us know via our Contact page and where at all possible, we’ll endeavour to help.

There are no price concessions for our disabled visitors, but the festival has full disabled facilities and there are free accompanying Carer tickets available, for those who require dedicated assistance. Simply email us via our Contact page or at info@dominionfestival.co.uk for details how to apply for the same or email your tickets order reference number, once you’ve purchased your ticket(s), along with copy proof of PIP or other disability allowance to request your free accompanying carer ticket.

An accompanying Carer ticket must be presented at the entrance gate at the same time as the main purchased ticket(s).

Dominion Festival aims to be much more than just the live music and there will be various other activities within the event, including fairground rides, lots of new children’s entertainment, novelty attractions and a variety of traders exhibiting items for sale along the theme of the event.

You may bring folding chairs and blankets to sit on but, for obvious reasons, these will not be permitted into primary audience areas which are expected to have dense crowds or moshing, to prevent trip hazards to other customers.  If at any time our security team deem chairs, etc, to be too close to the stage, they will politely ask you to move these to a quieter area.

Dogs are permitted into the event, as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and cleaned up after.  Much like children however we would remind everyone that crowds at metal festivals can be fast moving and dynamic, and so not all areas will be suitable for dogs at all times.  The presence of pyrotechnics on both stages could potentially also be distressing to some dogs.  You are more than welcome to bring dogs to the festival but please carefully consider their welfare and which parts of the event may be suitable for them and which may not.

We want people to enjoy their time at the festival to the fullest, and that means great camping facilities, but we must balance this against safety requirements and good practice.  To that end, our advice on BBQs, Camping Stoves and Fires is set out below:

Open fires are permitted only in fireproof containers clearly raised from the ground (fire pits etc) and should only be used when supervised by persons sober and sensible.

BBQs are permitted only when clearly raised from the ground (fire pits etc) and should only be used when supervised by persons sober and sensible.

Camping Stoves are permitted, and we wholeheartedly encourage people to use either solid or liquid fuelled options which are not only much safer but more environmentally friendly too.

If you use a gas canister supplied stove (butane etc) please ensure that you bring only the minimum amount of gas required for your stay and both always use and store these items appropriately.

All fires / stoves must always be used an appropriate distance from any tents.  At least 1m is essential and over 2m for any form of open fire or BBQ.

Security will prevent any improper use of fires, BBQs or stoves and person who fail to follow these basic safety steps risk their items being seized and/or being ejected from the Festival.

Please enjoy, but do so sensibly and safely, thank you.

Camping pitches will be filled sequentially on arrival, so you will be directed to the correct camp site for your camping pitch, by stewards, as you arrive.

There will be dedicated sections for:

  • Tents
  • Car Parking
  • Motorhomes/caravans/live-in vehicles

The camp sites have toilets, showers (small charge applies), ELSAN waste disposal, drinking water supplies and 24/7 security.

For safety reasons, to avoid the risk of vehicles driving between tents, the cars will be parked in a separate car park next door to the tents area.

The Camping tickets are PER PERSON wishing to camp, and allow camping for the weekend (Fri 29th July to Monday 1st August 2022). Camping tickets include the standard music entry, per person, and are for camping in either:

LIVE-IN VEHICLE CAMPING for camping in a motorhome, caravan or camper van.

The camp site will open at 10am on Friday 29th July 2022 and closes at 2pm on Monday 1st August 2022.

There is also an early arrival option (included with the camping ticket) for anyone who chooses to arrive early on Thursday 28th July 2022 at any time between 5pm and 10pm.

The camp sites are filled sequentially on arrival, so if you’d like to pitch up next to friends, please arrive together.
